The Exquisite Distraction

You lifted me from that ocean of sorrow and pulled me aboard your rocking boat with no thought for your own safety. I may have drowned if not for you. But you had no idea of the storm that would follow. I didn’t mean to make this passage harder. It’s just that my heart became a tempest for you, and I couldn’t fight it. I had to tell you and unleash that flood of emotion upon you. I couldn’t hold it back. I should have calmed your turmoil by just being your friend, rather than trying to be more.
I need to let you go.
