We have a merry band of Blue Winged Kookaburras that hang around from time to time. This is one of the crew. They sit on the clothes line, or in the lower branches of the Mangosteen tree and watch the ground intently. When they see what they’re looking for, they dive to the ground and spear their beaks into the soil. If they’re lucky, they get their prey in the first hit. If not, they repeatedly peck at the ground until they pull out a lawn grub. One of those Black-headed, white bodied grubs that turn into Brown Christmas Beetles I think. Oh, for those waiting on news of Ita & the bridge and stuff. I’ll be busy today with pics and stories 🙂
